Summer is almost officially over. The bathing suits have been put away. The days are starting to get that autumn glow. Any day now, the leaves will start to change, and you’ll be craving all things pumpkin and plaid. Here is a list of our favorite nearby fall festivals that are sure to get you in the autumn spirit.
Note that most of these festivals require tickets and sell out quickly.
Saint Ann Jubilee Festival | Saint Ann Catholic Church 5300 N. 10th Street, Arlington, Virginia 22205 | September 24 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM | This free admission family friendly fall festival will feature games, rides, raffle, silent auction, a beer garden, live music and food! Games, rides and food open at 10:00 am and end at 4:00 pm. Tickets at the festival will be sold in $1 increments, and games, rides and food will cost $1-$12.
Mount Vernon Colonial Market and Fair | George Washington’s Mount Vernon |September 17-18 | Go back in time with Colonial-artisans demonstrating 18th-century crafts and selling traditional wares. There is also 18th-century entertainment including music, fire-eating, sword-swallowing, puppet and magic shows, and food for sale onsite.
Bluemont Fair | Bluemont, VA | September 17 – 19 | This FREE event is in one of our most favorite locations. At the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains this his classic country fair includes music, crafts and antiques, food, model trains, local beer and wine-tasting for the adults, and a special children’s area with farm animals.
Arlington Valley Fest | Arlington, VA | September 25 | This local and very family-friendly event includes something for adults and kids. Music, beer presented by New District Brewing Company, a Kid Zone, food trucks, and more.
Cox Farms Fall Festival |Centreville, VA| Open select days September 24 – Nov. 8 | Great for the kids. Cox Farm hosts a variety of slides, hayrides, farm animals, cornfield maze, and much more.
Mount Vernon Fall Wine Festival and Sunset Tour |George Washington’s Mount Vernon| October 7-9 | Enjoy Virginia wines while watching the sunset over the Potomac.
